No. The routes are mostly trails, paths, unpaved roads and short sections of asphalt on public roads that are not closed for the event, and they cross farms, villages and private access roads. Runners may meet vehicles, people and animals in both directions and must respect the highway code; crossing roads carelessly means disqualification. Gates and barriers must be left as they were found.
Supporters may help at the aid stations as long as they do not obstruct other runners, but they may not take food from the supplies, which are managed only by the organisation. Support vehicles cannot circulate on the course and must stay at the support bases, and no runner may be accompanied by non-accredited people.
