Potsdam sees out the year with a 7 kilometre run through the Brandenburg city on Thursday 31 December 2026. Entries are split into a Hauptlauf for runners chasing a time and a Schnupperlauf for anyone who wants a gentler first taste of racing. The event is put on by the Potsdamer Laufclub, with entries and timing handled online through Race Result. Route details, start times and entry information are confirmed by the organiser as race day approaches.

Schnupperlauf translates roughly as a taster run. It is the entry level category alongside the Hauptlauf, aimed at runners and newcomers who want a relaxed outing rather than a hard effort.
The start and finish area, along with the precise route, are published by the organiser on the event website and the registration page in the weeks before race day. Check these sources before travelling, because Potsdam is a large city and the assembly point can move between editions.
Potsdam sits just south west of Berlin and is served by regional trains and the Berlin S-Bahn, with tram and bus routes covering the city centre. Arriving by train and walking or taking a tram to the start area is usually the simplest option on New Year's Eve, when road closures and heavy traffic are common.
Late December in Potsdam is cold, often hovering around or below freezing, with a real chance of frost, ice or even snow underfoot. Bring layers you can shed, gloves, a hat and, if the forecast turns wet, a light waterproof. Shoes with decent grip are worth considering if ice is forecast.
Bag storage arrangements are confirmed by the organiser each year. For a short winter race, the safest approach is to travel light and carry only what you need, since outdoor clothing layers are not always supervised.
