Other questions
Yes. The event is run and walked, and the organisers present both routes as options for committed athletes and motivated walkers alike.
The summit of kunanyi / Mount Wellington sits about 1,271 metres above sea level and is often far colder, wetter and windier than Hobart. Bring layers you can add or remove and be ready for a change in conditions during the climb.
Water, nutrition and a phone are sensible for a long uphill effort. A light jacket or extra layer is worth carrying because the summit can be exposed, and the organisers publish any mandatory requirements with the event information.
Supporters can drive up the mountain road to the summit to see the Pinnacle finishers, or head to Fern Tree to meet the 10 km Pub runners. Mountain road access and conditions can change, so check before setting out.
Much harder. A flat half marathon has little climbing, while this route gains roughly 1,271 metres over the same distance, so expect to run slower and to train specifically on hills.
