The Pleß-Vulkan-Bergtrail is a mountain running day based in Breitungen/Werra in Thuringia, Germany, with a programme that runs from a 7 km climb up the Vulkan to a 50 km ultra. The longer courses follow forest tracks and mountain paths around the Pleß and the Frankenburg, gaining height steadily before dropping back toward the Werra valley. As well as the trail races there is a 15 km Nordic walking category, a run-and-bike competition, a kids race and a mountain time trial open to mountain bikes and gravel bikes. Expect genuine climbing, ground that mixes forest road with rougher singletrack, and the relaxed atmosphere of a club-run village event.
