Pipe Dream is a short AS category fell race that sets off from Canolfan Porthlwyd, the community centre in Dolgarrog, at noon on the last Saturday of February. The route covers 6.7 km and packs in 390 m of climbing on open fell ground above the village, so it is a compact, honest test of uphill running and descending rather than a long day out. The FRA listing carries the PM skill code, which means entrants should be comfortable moving over rough, pathless hillside with a map and compass. Entry is available online through the race Facebook group ahead of time, or on the day for a small fee, with juniors under 16 excluded and 16 to 17 year olds needing a parent's signature. The race does not hold an FRA permit and is not insured through the association.

Both are possible. The listing offers pre-entry, with online entry and last minute updates posted on the race Facebook group, and entry on the day is also accepted at the community centre before the start.
Fell races carry a skill code to tell entrants what the course demands. Pipe Dream is listed with PM, which points to navigational ability on open fell ground, so come ready to look after yourself with a map and compass if the cloud comes down.
It is short but not easy. The 6.7 km route climbs 390 m, so roughly 58 m of ascent for every kilometre, and it is graded AS, the short category with a decent amount of climb. Expect sustained uphill running followed by rough, steep descending.
The race is based at Canolfan Porthlwyd, the Dolgarrog Community Centre in the Conwy valley, postcode LL32 8JU, grid reference SH769676. The start is at 12:00.
No. The listing states that the race does not have a permit or insurance from the FRA, so it is run outside the association's race cover.
