The Very Merry Pudding Run is a Christmas themed timed event at Coate Water Country Park in Swindon, where participants run repeated laps of a 3.28 mile (5.25 km) circuit and may complete as many laps as they wish before the event finish cutoff, within a designated start window. The lap uses a mixture of well maintained gravel and tarmac paths, lakeside tracks and woodland trails, crossing the Curly Wurly spiral concrete footbridge over the M4 before continuing onto a woodland railway path. The ground is generally flat with a few undulations and is described as suitable for road shoes. One lap gives a quick 5K with a trail section, four laps equal a half marathon, eight laps a full marathon, and nine or more laps reach ultra marathon territory. Every finisher who completes at least one lap receives a medal individually cut, engraved and painted from solid oak, measuring 10 cm wide and 1 cm thick, containing a real money in the pudding feature and doubling as a Christmas tree decoration. A Phoenix aid station sits at the start and finish of every lap, with food and provisions for special dietary requirements including vegan and gluten free choices, and places are strictly limited to control numbers on the paths and bridge. Entry fees are listed separately for affiliated and unaffiliated entrants.
