Phoenix Running's Surrey Ready Freddy Go is a lap based timed event staged at the Xcel SPORTS HUB Stadium in Walton on Thames. Runners cover as many 5.3 km out and back laps of the riverside towpath as they choose inside a seven hour limit, so the day can be a single lap of 3.28 miles or something that stretches into ultra territory. The surface underfoot is off road trail and the course is entirely flat, with no elevation gain or loss at all. Starts are staggered within a one hour window so runners can set off at a time that suits the distance they have planned, and special start requests can be accommodated depending on the planned distance.

The course is a 5.3 km out and back lap along the riverside towpath. You complete as many laps as you choose within the seven hour limit, so you can decide on the day whether you stop after one lap of 3.28 miles or keep going into half marathon, marathon or ultra territory. Race support and the aid station sit at the event base, which you pass at the end of every lap.
The event is based at the Xcel SPORTS HUB Stadium on Waterside Drive in Walton on Thames, Surrey, KT12 2JG. All laps start and finish at this riverside base, so it is the natural meeting point for runners and supporters alike.
Starts are staggered across a one hour window, so runners can set off at a time that suits the distance they are planning. The format includes rock up and run starts, and special start time requests can be accommodated depending on the planned distance. It is worth contacting the organiser in advance if you need a particular slot.
The affiliated entry is for runners who belong to a club affiliated to the national governing body, and the unaffiliated entry is for everyone else. The difference is small, and the option is selected when you enter through the organiser's website.
Yes. The course is flat with no elevation gain or loss, the minimum distance is a single lap, and there is a generous seven hour limit. That combination makes it a gentle introduction to trail running as well as a supportive setting for a first half marathon, marathon or ultra.
