The event takes place at Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire, starting and finishing at Marlow Car Park. Everything is built around a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out-and-back lap of the reservoir, and runners complete as many or as few laps as they like, so the day is whatever distance suits them, from a single lap up to an ultra. The ground underfoot is mainly tarmac cycle path with a short stretch of gravel, and the route is close to flat throughout. Every participant receives a physical medal or memento, and the organiser also offers a virtual option for runners who cannot attend in person.
