The ground underfoot is canal gravel towpath with some trail, road or trail shoes both work well, and there is very little elevation change. Runners decide on the day how many laps to complete, from a single 2.62 mile lap up to 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, marathon or ultra distance within a seven hour limit, and their time is recorded for every lap finished. Starts are flexible within a one hour window so entrants can rock up and run when they arrive.
