Overview

The Phoenix Manchester Let Them Eat Cake is a timed trail running event held at Hardy Farm in Chorlton Water Park, Manchester. Participants choose how far they go—from a single 5km lap to an ultra-distance effort—along the flat and fast riverside towpath of the River Mersey over a 7-hour window. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal and a slice of cake or cookie, while the Finch Bakery cake van and a well-stocked aid station keep runners fuelled. The event welcomes runners, walkers, joggers and hikers of all abilities.

Parking · Free at Hardy Farm (75 spaces, first come first served); additional free/paid parking at Sale Water Park (15 min walk) and around Chorlton Water Park.Yes! There is free parking for up to 75 cars on a first come, first serve basis for the entire duration of the event.

ToiletsYes, we have proper toilets at start/finish of every lap.

Aid stations · 1Selection of sweets, bananas, biscuits, crisps and pretzels. There is a good chance of cake and, if the weather is hot, ice lollies as well. Vegan options and gluten free options are available too. Water, variety of squash and cola will be available.

TransfersFree transfer to another runner up to 7 days before the event; not permitted within 7 days of race date.

DeferralsFree deferral once to a future event up to 7 days before the original date; pregnant/postpartum mums and adopting parents may defer for up to 3 years.

If the race is cancelledIf cancelled due to circumstances outside of control (e.g. weather, emergency services, pandemic advice), no refunds but entry carried forward or alternative event offered.

Bad weatherIn the unlikely event the event is cancelled, delayed or postponed due to extreme weather, entry will be carried forward to the next running or a suitable alternative event; no refunds are payable.
