Spectators are more than welcome. The Weir Pub is located right next to the start and finish line so offers an extremely convenient cheering on point. The Weir offers cold drinks, hot drinks and food from 11am, and there is also a café at the nearby Xcel Leisure Centre. The Weir offers hotel rooms for those wishing to stay over, but please book early as it always sells out.
Complete 1 lap and you are both a finisher and a winner. Complete 4 laps for a half marathon distance. Complete 8 laps for a full marathon distance, recognised by the 100 Marathon Club. Complete 9 or more laps for an ultra marathon distance.
Phoenix Running are now in their 11th year of organising events in the South-East of England. They are all about being inclusive: great routes, great medals and above all else, great people. The aim is to encourage and enable runners to achieve things they perhaps once thought were impossible, whether that is a first 5km, 5 mile or 50km run.
Yes, within reason. The beauty of the lap format is that you do not need to decide in advance: run a lap, see how you feel and keep going if it feels right, up to the full seven hour limit.
Yes. The route is flat riverside towpath with no elevation gain or loss, and one lap is enough to be a finisher. Runners of all abilities are welcomed, and the lapped format means you are never far from the start and finish area.
