The race is listed for Saturday 7 November 2026 in Idar-Oberstein, Rhineland-Palatinate. Start times for the individual races are published by the organiser on the Race Result page, and it is worth checking that page again in the weeks before the event in case anything shifts.
A Crosslauf is a cross-country race rather than a road race, so the course runs over grass, woodland paths and natural ground rather than tarmac. In early November in the Nahe valley the surface can be soft or muddy, so shoes with decent grip are a sensible choice.
Grippy trail or cross-country shoes work well on this type of surface, and some runners prefer cross-country spikes if the ground is wet. Road racing flats will leave you sliding on soft grass, so bring something with tread.
The programme is a sequence of short races on a compact cross-country course, which means spectators can usually move between a few points and see runners several times. Family members running in different age groups can race and watch on the same afternoon.
Cross-country racing generally goes ahead in wet and cold conditions, and November weather in Rhineland-Palatinate can be changeable. Dress in layers you can shed before the start and bring something dry for afterwards. Any cancellation decision would be made by the organiser, so check their page if conditions look severe.
