Pontefract Park hosts race two of the PECO Junior Cross Country League, run alongside the senior league on an undulating grass and parkland circuit in West Yorkshire. Juniors are grouped by age, with under 11s covering about one mile and those aged 11 to 15 covering about two miles, all over a single lap and chip timed from start to finish. A season ticket costing £8.00 covers all five junior races as well as the end of season relays and prize presentation, and it can only be bought online. The park is deliberately basic on race day, with no toilets, no water, no distance markers, no changing rooms, no showers and nowhere to leave bags, so families arrive self-sufficient.
