The Patrick Fougère Sand and Forest Trail opens with a loop around the lake before heading into the Forêt de la Coubre, where runners follow single track through the ferns and pines on ground that is sandy in places. The 26 km route adds a stretch along the beach. The organisers promise careful marking with marshals at the main junctions and a generous spread at the finish, and the 26 km race holds a Bronze FFA label as a qualifier for the French short trail championships. The event is held every November in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer on the Charente-Maritime coast, and it drew 819 finishers in 2024.

Yes, an 8.5 km hike is offered alongside the 11 km, 16 km and 26 km trails, so the day suits walkers as well as runners.
A substantial refreshment spread is laid on at the finish. Reviews from earlier editions mention that the pre-race buffet was chargeable, so bring a little change if you want something before the start.
It is a well-established local trail. Recent editions have drawn between roughly 540 and 820 finishers across all distances, with 819 in 2024.
With 420 m of ascent and sandy, sometimes soft ground underfoot, build in some time on sand and on rolling forest trails before race day. The organisers link to a free short trail training plan for anyone stepping up to the distance.
