The Oudejaarsloop closes the running year on the last Sunday of December, sending runners and walkers out through the countryside of Westerwolde in the province of Groningen. Four distances are on offer, from 5 km up to a half marathon, with the longest race starting at 12:00 and the shorter three following at 12:05. Entry is capped at 1,100 participants and no late registration is taken on the day. Changing rooms, showers, a first aid post and an AED are provided at the venue, and the event is organised by the Atletiekunie-affiliated club AV Aquilo.
