The Otterton Reindeer Run is a festive cross-country event held in the Otter Valley on 5 December 2026, raising money for community projects in Otterton. Both races set off from outside St Michael's Church, which serves as Race HQ, and the courses are mainly off-road with some quiet country lane sections that turn muddy in December. Marshals and water stations are placed around the route and paramedics are on standby. Afterwards the action moves to Otterton Village Hall for prize presentations and refreshments, where adults receive complimentary tea, coffee or mulled wine and juniors get squash, each with a mince pie, and bacon rolls and other food can be bought. The event is held under Association of Running Clubs rules and entry fees range from £7.50 to £18.00.

The courses are mainly off-road, running through the Otter Valley with some quiet country lane sections. In December the ground is often muddy, so expect soft and potentially slippery conditions underfoot.
Trail or off-road shoes are the sensible choice given the mainly off-road route and the likelihood of mud in December. Road shoes will struggle on the softer sections.
