Other questions
There are four routes. The 21.5km Scenic Ascent is the shortest and most accessible and is run at night. The 32km Old Capital Trail sits in the middle, while the 50km Skyward Canyon and the 154km Hajar Ultra are the demanding mountain routes for experienced trail runners.
Drink stations and nutrition stations are set out along the routes, staffed by volunteers. Medical assistance is on hand during the event, and there is a bag drop at the race village so you can leave belongings while you run.
December is one of the cooler months in the Al Hajar Mountains, but days can still be warm and nights in the mountains get cold, which matters most for the night start of the 21.5km race and the overnight 154km ultra. Carry layers, and be ready for sun exposure on exposed ridge and canyon sections.
