The Old Capital Trail takes runners deep into the soul of Oman — 32 kilometers linking ancient mountain villages, green palm groves, and timeless wadis around the historic city of Nizwa. With over 1,400 meters of elevation gain, this course blends challenge and culture: rugged climbs, flowing descents, and paths once walked by traders and travelers centuries ago. Every step connects the past to the pulse of the present.

The maximum allowed race time is 8 hours.
Running Stones give you extra chances to be selected for the UTMB World Series Finals. With your participation in the Old Capital Trail, you will collect one Running Stone.
A smartphone is mandatory with the LiveTrail application installed and activated with international roaming allowing for its use in Oman. The phone must be reachable at any time before, during and after the race. Keep the phone on, airplane mode is forbidden and could give rise to penalties. An external battery is highly recommended.
For races of the 100M, 100K and 50K, a personal assistant is allowed at certain aid stations. For the 32K Old Capital Trail, participants are expected to demonstrate semi-autonomy/self-sufficiency and carry their own fluids, food, and gear between aid stations.
Dedicated event transport and shuttle services will be provided to support runners travelling to the start area in Nizwa, particularly for those without personal vehicles.
