The NOAC Turkey Day Race is held on Thanksgiving morning in New Orleans City Park, starting from 5400 Marconi Drive. Runners and walkers cover five miles through the park, while children take on a half-mile fun run of their own. Now in its 117th edition, it stands as one of the longest-running running events in the United States. Proceeds from the day support Spina Bifida of Louisiana, and participants are encouraged to collect their race packets early, both to secure their participant shirt and to avoid queues on race morning.

To ensure the safety of all participants, the use of baby strollers/joggers is advised against during the Turkey Day Race. While strollers are fully supported in training, their inclusion in races can pose risks to runners and children. If allowed in a race, strollers, baby joggers, or similar devices should be started in the back of the runners and walkers.
