The New Year 5K, 10K and 13.1M takes place at Deer Valley Park in north Phoenix on the second day of January, with all three distances starting together at 8:30 AM. The racing runs on a marked loop inside the park, and because every lap returns past the finish area, runners pass the water station repeatedly rather than finding aid spread around the course. Race day is deliberately low-key: finisher medals, published results and a relaxed community feel, with a small crew of staff and volunteers on hand. Participants are asked to prepare for the weather themselves and to keep anything they might need between laps close to the start. Registration for each distance is capped, with 80 spots remaining in each field.
