Other questions
Yes. The 45 km classification is made up of the 25 km Wengertrunde followed by the 20 km Waldrunde, so runners cover both loops in sequence. If you prefer a shorter day, enter one of the two single loops instead.
The route mixes vineyard tracks through the Wengert with forest paths in the woods around Neckarsulm. It is not a road course, so expect uneven surfaces, softer ground in places and rolling climbs rather than flat tarmac.
The 20 km forest loop is the shortest option on offer and makes the gentlest introduction, while the 25 km vineyard loop adds a little more distance. The 45 km classification is a long day out and suits runners with trail experience.
Local trail races of this kind are normally taped and signed at junctions, but the organiser publishes the definitive course and marking information on their website. Check it in the days before the race, especially after windy autumn weather.
Spectators can usually follow progress around the vineyard and forest edges near the start and finish area, though access to the middle of the loops is limited. The finish is the best place to wait and cheer.
