Runners set off from Thornbridge Estate on a circular off-road route that passes the Headstone viaduct and opens up views across Monsal Dale before returning to the estate. The route covers about 7.5 km with roughly 220 m of ascent on trail and estate paths, fully waymarked with marshals at regular points. The day has a deliberately festive feel: Santa is expected to appear, entries include free entry to the on-site Christmas Markets, and finishers collect a complimentary hot festive drink and a sweet treat. Professional timing produces full results, a secure bag drop and outdoor First Aid qualified marshals are on hand, and a share of every entry fee goes to trail repair and nature recovery work across Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park.
