Monte Caio Trail Running is held in Schia, a hamlet of Tizzano Val Parma in the province of Parma, on trails that thread through the Tosco-Emiliano Apennines. The event is in its eighth edition and sits on the UISP provincial trail calendar, organised by Parmarathon Asd together with Pro Loco Schia. Runners pick between three timed distances of 12 km, 21 km and 31 km, each with its own climb, while a non-competitive walk follows the Sentiero dei Giganti at an unhurried pace. Medals go to everyone who finishes a competitive race, the first entries receive a gadget, and a generous refreshment spread waits at the finish. The Monte Caio Kids Trail, now in its third edition, runs once the walkers are back.
