Yes, the Monsal Trail is a traffic-free route on a former railway line. It is not closed to other trail users, so you will share it with walkers, dog walkers, horse riders and cyclists. Runners are asked to stay on the left side of the trail, to be respectful of others and to take extra care where the path narrows.

Both the 10K and the half marathon start and finish at the Bakewell Station (Monsal Trail) car park, Peak District National Park, Bakewell, Derbyshire DE45 1GE.

The half marathon runs the full length of the trail to a turnaround point at Miller's Dale before heading back to Bakewell. The 10K uses the same route but turns around at the 5km mark, which is inside the first railway tunnel.
