MIUT takes runners across Madeira Island on routes that link sea level to the island's high summits before dropping into Machico for the finish. The courses thread through ancient levadas, dense laurel forest, steep ridges and open coastal trails, mixing technical paths with wide views over the Atlantic. Five race options are offered under the MIUT banner, from the Starter to the Legend, and the programme runs over the weekend of 24 and 25 April 2027. Clube de Montanha do Funchal organises the event, and registration for the 2027 edition opened on 12 October 2026 and closed on 20 March 2027.

The event is organised by Clube de Montanha do Funchal, a Madeira-based mountain club. The club publishes the official race information for each edition through its registration platform.
Madeira is served by Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport near Funchal, with direct flights from mainland Portugal and a number of European cities. The airport is a short drive from Água de Pena, Funchal and Machico, so most runners arrive by air and then hire a car or use local buses.
Most runners base themselves in Funchal, Machico or the villages around Água de Pena. Machico is convenient because all five races finish there, while Funchal offers the widest choice of hotels, apartments and restaurants.
The programme offers five options, running from the shorter Starter through Discover, Marathon and Advanced up to the Legend. The right choice depends on how much climbing and technical ground you are comfortable with, so study the official course profiles before you enter.
Distance changes are handled by the organiser and depend on whether places are still available in the race you want to move into. Contact Clube de Montanha do Funchal or the registration platform to ask about a switch.
