Runners follow a wide loop through Freiburg's western districts before turning back through the historic centre, passing the Seepark, Dietenbachpark, Haslach, Weingarten, St. Georgen, Wiehre and Oberau along the way. The marathon and half marathon share the same 21.1 km circuit, so marathoners cover it twice, and the ground shifts between asphalt, cobblestone and paved surfaces. Around 30 live bands line the route and seven refreshment stations per lap keep everyone moving towards the finish at Messe Freiburg. The weekend opens on Saturday with the Badeparadies Mini-Marathon for children and closes on Sunday with the marathon, half marathon, 10 km health run and the student relay.

Other questions
A switch to another race is possible online until 1 April 2027 at 23:59, as long as places remain in that race. The link for changing your data comes with your confirmation email. Moving to a longer distance costs the price difference plus a EUR 13 administration fee, and moving to a shorter distance means the difference is retained plus the same EUR 13 fee. After the entry deadline, changes can only be made on site at the info desk in Halle 3 during the event weekend, where a EUR 13 fee applies. Start block changes are no longer possible after 21 March 2027.
There are no waiting lists for any of the races. If a race sells out, places offered through the official start place exchange can be taken over for a fee of EUR 16.
The swap works through the change link in your confirmation email under Daten ändern. Either you forward the link once to the person taking your place, who enters their own details and pays the EUR 13 transfer fee directly, or you enter their details yourself and pay the fee yourself. Refunding the original entry fee is a private arrangement between the two of you, and the organiser assumes no responsibility. After the change, the link in the confirmation is automatically deactivated and further adjustments can only be made in writing to [email protected] or at the help desk on race day.
The official start place exchange lets registered runners pass on their ticket, and lets others take over a place for an additional fee of EUR 16, up to 21 March. Full details are on the start place exchange information page.
The route takes in the best corners of Freiburg, running through Freiburg West, Dietenbachpark, Haslach, Weingarten, St. Georgen, Wiehre and Oberau as well as the city centre, Stühlinger and Brühl. The start is set against the backdrop of the Europa-Park Stadion. The ground varies throughout, with asphalt, cobblestone and paved sections. The exact 2027 route will be published later.
