Other questions
Distance changes are decided by the organiser. Contact them through the details on their registration page and ask before race day, as any change usually has to be made while entries are still open.
Early December in Bergen is cold, windy and often wet, with short daylight hours and a real chance of ice on the ground. Bring layers you can adjust, a light waterproof and shoes with good grip.
Bergen has an airport at Flesland with frequent domestic flights, and the light rail line connects the airport to the city centre. Long distance trains also run from Oslo and other Norwegian cities, and the city centre itself is compact enough to walk.
Hotels in central Bergen put you within walking distance of most city centre facilities. Book early, since December weekends in Bergen fill up with both visitors and locals.
The Halvmaraton offers a shorter option on the same day as the full marathon, which suits runners stepping up in distance. Training through a Norwegian winter takes some planning, so build in time on dark, cold evenings.
