The Maratón Internacional Elche - Alicante is an inaugural point-to-point road marathon that joins two Mediterranean cities on Spain's Costa Blanca. Runners set off from the Altamira Palace in Elche and follow the streets of the city out towards the coast before finishing on pier 12 in the Port of Alicante. The course is run entirely on road and takes in beach and seaside stretches, with drink stations, nutrition stations, medical assistance and toilets provided along the way. The gun goes at 09:00, and finishers receive a medal and a t-shirt at the port. Race packs are collected in Elche on the Friday and Saturday before race day.

Other questions
Alicante and Elche enjoy a mild Mediterranean climate with an average annual temperature above 18°C and more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. Late November mornings are usually cool and pleasant for running, but the sun can still be strong in the middle of the day, so sunscreen and hydration are sensible.
Drink stations and nutrition stations are provided along the marathon route, and toilets and medical assistance are available as part of the event organisation.
Medical assistance is available as part of the event. If you feel unwell, stop and speak to a marshal or the nearest medical point rather than continuing. If injury or illness prevents you from running, you can request a refund of the entry fee up to 15 days before the race with a medical certificate.
The course is entirely on road and runs from Elche down to the coast, with drink and nutrition stations along the way. Runners must be 18 or over. Anyone taking on their first marathon should train for the distance and be comfortable with race-day logistics, since the start and finish are in different cities.
