The name comes from the legend of Lady Elena, wife of Petru Rareș, who fled to the Rarău Mountains in 1541 with their son to escape Tatar invaders. As they prayed for salvation, rocks collapsed and buried their enemies, and the rocks were named Pietrele Doamnei (Lady's Rocks) ever since.
The course features mountain trails through the Rarău Mountains with steep climbs, protected natural reserves, pastoral landscapes, and technical sections.
