The half marathon sets off from Sylvan Beach Park on the edge of Galveston Bay and winds through the streets of La Porte. Runners then take on the Fred Hartman Bridge, with its soaring towers and bright yellow cables, crossing it twice. The route finishes at Five Points Plaza, where a post-race celebration with food, beer and medals follows. The race is part of the Texas Bridge Series, bringing together runners from across the region for a fast, flat-out day beside the bay.

Twice. The route goes out over the bridge and comes back across it, so you get two climbs and two chances to enjoy the towers and yellow cables above the bay.
The Texas Bridge Series is a group of Texas races that all feature a bridge crossing, and the La Porte By the Bay Half Marathon is one of them. Running this event counts towards the series alongside the other participating races.
Yes. The start at Sylvan Beach Park, the bridge approaches and the finish at Five Points Plaza give supporters several places to cheer. The finish party with food and beer is the natural gathering point at the end of the morning.
The race is held on open roads and the bridge deck, so conditions on the day are monitored closely. Any decision to delay, alter or cancel the event for safety is made by the organisers and communicated to entrants.
Registration is available at packet pickup and Race Day, as long as slots are open. However, you will not be given a shirt until after the race, if available.
