Other questions
Registration for Marathon La Fortifiée is listed as TBC. Check the official event website and social media for the opening date and entry link. Because it is the only marathon in the Aisne department and offers solo, duo, semi-marathon/20 km options, entries may fill or close before race day. For the duo marathon, make sure you understand whether both runners must register together or whether one captain registers the team. French races often require a medical certificate or health declaration, so prepare that early.
Yes. Runners are invited to come in fancy dress, which fits the event's friendly village-to-village atmosphere through the Thiérache. Choose a costume that is safe, breathable, and does not cover your race bib or restrict your vision. Avoid props that could endanger other runners or spectators. Practise running in the costume beforehand, especially over the rolling 500 m of elevation.
As a French road race, Marathon La Fortifiée should have medical support, first-aid posts, ambulances, and course marshals, though exact details are TBC. In an emergency, call 112 and alert the nearest marshal. Know your bib number and any relevant medical information. If you must withdraw, tell a marshal or medical volunteer so organisers know you are safe. Carry a phone and ID if you can.
Parfondeval is a small village, so accommodation is limited. Look for gîtes, chambres d'hôtes, and hotels in nearby Thiérache towns such as Rozoy-sur-Serre, Laon, Hirson, or Charleville-Mézières. Book early and choose a refundable rate if your plans may change. Staying within 20–30 minutes of Parfondeval makes race-morning parking and bib collection easier. If you are travelling from abroad, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Lille, or Brussels Charleroi are possible airports, but a car is usually needed for the final leg.
