The Matsue Ladies Half Marathon takes place on closed city roads in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, starting beside the Shimane Prefectural Civic Hall and finishing in front of the Otemae gate of Matsue Castle. The half marathon and 10 km run on officially certified courses, and a 2.6 km jogging race and a 1 km children's race follow on the same morning. Runners collect their numbers at the Shimane Prefectural Budokan on the afternoon before the race or on race morning, and the day ends with age group awards. It is the longest running women's half marathon in Japan, and the shorter races open the event to men, children and first time runners.
