Overview

The course leaves the Ancient Market Place and runs along flat tarmac streets for the first five miles before reaching the River Thames. Runners then follow the Barge Walk beside the water for about three miles, passing Hampton Court Palace, before heading through Thames Ditton and back to the market square for the finish. Supporters usually gather in the Market Place to cheer runners across the line, and a market with food stalls adds to the celebrations afterwards.

Route

Starting and finishing in the Ancient Market Place in Kingston upon Thames. Runners wind through the town on flat tarmac streets for the first 5 miles before reaching the River Thames. They then follow the Barge Walk for about 3 miles of riverside views as they approach Hampton Court Palace. After passing the palace, the route runs through Thames Ditton and turns back to the Market Place for the finish.

Getting There

Kingston Rail Station is about 0.3 miles (around a 7 minute walk) from the start. The event is in central Kingston, which has plenty of public transport options. Local runners are encouraged to walk, jog, cycle or take a bus.

Race Day

The Half Marathon starts at 08:30. Arrive at least an hour before race time for race number collection, warm up and lining up. Toilets are available near the start line, with a small number of portable toilets on the route at around 8.5 miles.

Recovery

Post-race celebrations take place at the local market, with stalls offering a variety of foods.

Before you enter

Minimum ageRunners must be at least 17 years of age to register for the race, and must be 17 or older on race day.

Collecting your numberNo. Race packs are not sent out in advance, so they must be collected from race registration or in advance as directed by the organisers. Arrive at least an hour before the 08:30 start to allow time for collection.
