Runners take on a 2.5km loop around Inverleith Park in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh, completing two laps for the 5K or four for the 10K. The course is open, fast and accessible, running on park paths with Halloween-themed touches, music and a few spooky surprises waiting along the way. Both races set off together at 10:00 AM on Saturday 31 October 2026, and the morning continues with a Toddler Dash at 11.45am and a Kids Race at midday. Fancy dress is encouraged, whether that means a full costume or a spooky addition to standard running kit, and every finisher collects a Halloween-themed medal along with chip timing, free race photography and post-race goodies.

Both races use the same 2.5km loop around Inverleith Park. The 5K covers two laps of that loop and the 10K covers four. The ground underfoot is the same for both, so the only real difference is how long you spend out there.
Both the 5K and the 10K start at 10:00 AM, so aim to be in the park around 45 to 60 minutes beforehand. That gives you time to collect your race number, drop anything you do not need and warm up without rushing.
It is actively encouraged. You can go all out with a full Halloween costume, add something spooky to your normal running kit, or get a group of friends together and dress to match. The more runners who join in the theme, the better the atmosphere.
No specific weather policy is published on the event page. Autumn races in Edinburgh normally go ahead in rain, so check the forecast, dress appropriately for a park loop that is exposed to the elements, and watch the organiser's channels for any last-minute updates.
