The International Ultra Trail Vjosa Wild River follows the Vjosa River corridor through southern Albania, linking the villages of Çarshovë, Përmet and Tepelenë on soft paths through meadows and vineyards. Organised by Marathon Albania with the municipalities of the Gjirokastër district, it keeps the terrain largely forgiving rather than highly technical, with footbridges built in for safety and rest stations every 5 to 7 km serving water, fruit, soft drinks and snacks. Runners pass the Këlcyrës Gorge and the historic Qelova Church near Grabova Bridge, and the landscape shifts from plains to rolling hills as the route approaches Përmet. Five distances run from 11 km to 100 km, all finishing in Tepelenë. The weekend leans into its setting: Albanian cuisine and local hospitality turn the race into as much a journey through village life as through the landscape.

Other questions
The International Ultra Trail Vjosa Wild River is a cup-free event. The rest stations every 5 to 7 km serve water, fruit, soft drinks and snacks, but no disposable cups are provided, so every runner carries and refills their own reusable cup or bottle.
Yes. A shuttle to the start line is included in the entry, which is essential for the point-to-point distances that begin at Çarshovë, Përmet or Këlcyrë. Check the times confirmed by the organiser so you are at the pick-up point in good time.
It is not a highly technical mountain race. The route favours soft paths through meadows and vineyards, with riverbank terrain that comes closer to and moves away from the riverbed, so it rewards steady running rather than scrambling.
Distance changes are handled by the organiser and depend on availability in the race you want to switch to. Contact them directly rather than entering twice.
