In this backyard ultra, all runners start a 7 km coastal loop together every hour. Each loop has about 60 m of climb and passes the Napoleon stele, the Genoese tower of Capitello and Viva beach. You must complete the loop within the hour and be ready for the next hourly start. If you finish late, miss the start, or choose not to continue, your race ends. The event continues until one runner remains. Simple refreshments are available every hour, fuller aid every three to four hours, and hot broth, coffee and tea through the night.
Check-in is expected at or near Domaine Péraldi, the start/finish area on the south shore of the Golfe d'Ajaccio. Bring photo ID, your registration confirmation, and any mandatory kit for inspection. You will collect your bib, possibly a timing device, and receive last-minute instructions on course marking, night procedures, aid stations, and withdrawal rules. Attend the briefing even if you are experienced, as backyard races often have specific local rules.
There is no traditional finish line at a set distance. Your race ends when you withdraw before a lap, fail to complete the 7 km loop within the hour, or fail to start the next hourly lap. The winner is the last runner standing. All other participants are ranked by the number of completed laps. Finisher awards or medals, if any, depend on the organizer’s rules, so check the event website for prizes and recognition.
Because the backyard format returns to the same start/finish each hour, many runners keep a small base with spare layers, shoes, socks, food and a chair. Space may be limited, so keep your setup compact, label your bags, and do not block paths or aid areas. Valuables should stay with you or in a secure place. Check with the organizer whether a dedicated drop-bag area or indoor shelter is available at Domaine Péraldi.
The event information does not specify a qualification standard, but backyard ultras are demanding and usually suit runners with ultra or long trail experience. Some organizers require a medical certificate or previous race result. Check the registration page carefully. If you are new to the format, practice hourly loops, night running and walking breaks before committing to Infinity Trail Porticcio.
