Overview

The senior race is an FRA category AS fell race covering 8 km with 401 metres of climbing on Ilkley Moor. It is classified ER (Experience Required) and PM (part marked), so runners are expected to be able to look after themselves on open moorland. A one hour cut-off applies at the Rocky Valley marshal point, roughly halfway round, and anyone arriving after that time will be instructed to retire.

Marshals on course

ParkingOrganisers ask that competitors approach via Ilkley and not over Keighley Gate Road.

Public transportRace HQ is on Wells Road, Ilkley, about a 10 minute walk from Ilkley train and bus stations. Competitors are asked to approach via Ilkley and not over Keighley Gate Road.

Course markingThe race is classed PM (part marked), also known as partly flagged, and ER (Experience Required). Runners should be able to navigate themselves across open moorland, which is why carrying a map and compass matters even though the route is partially marked.

If the race is cancelledIn the event of severe weather or other circumstances forcing cancellation, this will be notified here & social media.

Minimum ageRunners need to be 16 or over on the day of the race. Runners under 18 who have entered online must bring a completed FRA Parental Consent Process and Form on the day to demonstrate that they have approval from a parent/guardian. This must be presented at race registration.

Time limitYes. There is a one hour cut-off at the Rocky Valley marshal point, approximately halfway along the course. Runners who arrive after that limit will be instructed to retire.
