The event is scheduled for Saturday 9 January 2027 in Zwolle, in the province of Overijssel, the Netherlands. The exact venue and course location are published by the organiser, so confirm them on the registration page before you travel.

It depends on your category. Senior men run 10 km, men aged 50 and over and women run 8 km, and younger athletes are placed by age group in races from 4.5 km down to 1 km. The registration form shows which race belongs to which category.

The 8 km race is open to women and to men aged 50 and over, and there is also a 2.5 km short cross race on the programme. Check the registration form to see which of these your category qualifies for.

This is a cross-country competition, so the course runs over grass and soft winter ground rather than road or pavement. In early January in Overijssel that often means wet or muddy sections, so cross-country spikes or trail shoes are the usual choice.

Cross-country courses are usually run on laps or short loops, which makes them easy to watch from a single spot. Spectators should dress for cold, wet January weather and follow any course-side instructions from marshals.
