The Hydrorace is a non-competitive road run staged as part of the Italian Running & Outdoor Festival, held on the ring path that circles the Parco Idroscalo in Segrate on the eastern edge of Milan. The ground underfoot is asphalt the whole way and the circuit is flat, staying inside the park among the trees with the lake in view for most of the route. Everyone sets off together from the Porta Maggiore entrance and chooses how much of the loop to take on: one lap for 6.2 km, two for 12.4 km, or three for 18.6 km. Entries come with chip timing, a race pack and an exclusive event T-shirt, and there are aid stations and technical assistance out on the course.
