Houffa Trail

The official transfer and deferral policy for the 2027 Houffa Trail is not yet available. Many trail events allow a bib transfer to another runner for a fee, or a deferral to the following year only with a valid reason such as injury or medical certificate. Distance changes may be possible before race day if places are available, but you should not assume this. Contact the organiser early and keep any confirmation in writing.

Use aggressive trail shoes with deep lugs for mud, wet roots, and steep descents. Waterproof shoes can help in cold conditions, but they may also trap water; quick-drying shoes with good drainage are a valid alternative. Gaiters can reduce mud and debris in your shoes. Dress in layers: a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating mid-layer, and a waterproof shell. Avoid cotton. Bring spare gloves, socks, and a warm hat, and carry a dry layer for the finish.

If you get lost, stop and avoid wandering further. Check your GPS or route map and return to the last confirmed course marker. If you are injured or cannot continue, call the emergency number provided by the organiser, give your bib number, location, and condition, and stay as warm and visible as possible. If you see another runner in difficulty, help if it is safe and alert race officials. Do not continue if you show signs of hypothermia or serious injury.
