The Höhenweg Trophy is staged in the Wildschönau high valley in the Kufstein district of Tirol and offers a menu of mountain races that runs from a short uphill sprint to a full summit trail and a mountain half marathon. Courses follow the high trails above the valley, so runners spend their day on mountain paths, alpine tracks and exposed ridge lines rather than on tarmac. The shortest test is a three kilometre climb, while the longer events ask for real climbing legs and the ability to handle rough, uneven ground at altitude.

Mountain races on the Höhenweg are harder to watch than road races. Accessible viewpoints exist at the valley stations and along the lower paths, and the finish area is the easiest place to follow the racing.
Mountain races can be shortened, rerouted or stopped if conditions make the high trails unsafe. The organiser publishes any change on the official site and at race registration on the day.
The longer distances climb steadily on mountain terrain, so hiking the steep sections is a sensible way to manage effort. Check the cutoff times published with the final race information before planning your pace.
