The event follows trail routes through the woodland and hills around Tarn How and Grizedale Forest, close to the village of Hawkshead in the Lake District. Runners choose between a 14 km and a 25 km route, both starting and finishing at Hawkshead Recreation Ground. The ground underfoot is mainly forest and hill trail, so runners should expect a varied, natural surface. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North, and the finish area offers an event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a drink and snack. Entry prices range from £29.00 to £34.00, and a bespoke event T-shirt is available as an optional add-on for £14.00.
