Harmeny Pentland Runners 7R Half Marathon

The Harmeny Pentland Runners 7R Half Marathon starts and finishes at Threipmuir Farm Steading, set between Harlaw and Threipmuir Reservoirs in the Pentland Hills near Balerno. The route is genuinely multi terrain, mixing smooth trails and short stretches of tarmac with rocky ground, bog, marshland and the possibility of shallow water crossings, and winter conditions can bring fog, rain, snow or ice. Competitors pass a checkpoint at 8 miles at Bonaly car park, where a two hour cut off applies and a first aider is present, with sweep runners able to give minimal first aid. There is no water station anywhere on the course, so runners carry their own fluids and nutrition, and the day finishes with hot soup and home baking at the steading. The field is limited to 150 runners and no entries are accepted on the day.
