Other questions
Yes. Everyone running any of the courses must carry the entire mandatory gear list at all times. There are random checks along the course and at the finish line, and time penalties apply for missing items.
Halls Gap town centre is the easiest spot for the 50k finish and day one of the stage race, while the Pinnacles Lookout and the Mount William Road area offer spectacular mountain views. The journey ends in the gardens at the Grampians Peaks Trail terminus in Dunkeld, where supporters can watch runners finish.
Yes. An official trail running race result of 100 km or more, a GPT50k finish, or a finish in one of the designated qualifier events within the two-year window from 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2026 is required to take part in the GPT100 Miler.
This is an expert-level mountain trail race with 7,700 m of climbing and descent over 162 km, much of it in remote wilderness. The section from Borough Huts through to Jimmy Creek Road is described as the crux, with the stepped climb to Durd Durd and the long descent that follows likely to be the point where runners feel they are at their limit.
Aid station crews and medical assistance are available along the course, and the mandatory gear rules mean every runner carries their own safety equipment at all times. Runners who withdraw should report to the nearest aid station so their progress can be logged.
