The festival takes over the streets of Grafton in New South Wales during jacaranda season, when the town's trees are in full purple bloom. Runners and walkers head out on sealed town roads beneath the flowering canopies, cross the famous Grafton Bridge and take in views over the Clarence River. Four distances are on offer, from a 21km half marathon down to a 10km, a 5km and a relaxed 2km fun run. The 2km wraps up with an optional purple-themed party in Memorial Park, so the day works as much for mates and families out for fun as for those chasing a time.
