Overview

The Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge is set on the stunning Gower Peninsula, the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With distances ranging from 10K to 100K, this multi-terrain running event offers full support, GPS tracking, and a festive basecamp atmosphere at historic Penrice Castle. Suitable for walkers, joggers, and runners of all abilities.

Route

A magnificent challenge – setting out from Penrice Castle basecamp with a range of camping options. It’s a figure-of-eight route – heading on a clockwise west loop first, heading down to Oxwich Bay and joining the stunning Wales Coast Path. You’ll be stopping every 12.5km for refreshments and whatever support you need – then you head inland, join the elevated Gower Way, with a main halfway stop back at Penrice Castle basecamp. Another 50km on the east loop – along the coast past Mumbles Head, inland up to Gowerton – and then a final push back to basecamp where a massive welcome awaits! The popular 2-Day Full 100km Challenge breaks down the route into its two ‘halves’ of ~50 km on Saturday and Sunday, both starting and finishing at the basecamp at Penrice Castle. You’ll get to experience the route in daylight, as well as the opportunity to get some welcome rest and sleep overnight.

Race Day

Saturday 18 July: 75K, 1st Half 50K, Marathon 42K, 25K, 10K races. Sunday 19 July: 2nd Half 50K races. Full Continuous 100K and Full 2 Day Daylight 100K span both days.

Minimum ageAge restrictions vary by distance: 10K Loop - Age 8 & over; 25K Loop and Marathon 42K Loop - Age 14 & over; 1st Half 50K and 2nd Half 50K - Age 16 & over; 75K Challenge, Full Continuous 100K, and Full 2 Day Daylight 100K - Age 18 & over.
