Fox and Hounds Trail takes place on 29 November 2026 from the Fox and Hounds in Cock Clarks near Chelmsford, offering two self-navigated routes of roughly 8.6 miles and 5.5 miles. The ground underfoot is a mix of footpaths and bridleways winding through the Essex countryside. There is no mass start, no marked route and no marshals, so participants collect written narrative instructions at the start, set off at any time between 9.30am and 11am, and are timed out and back in. The event is held under UK Athletics rules with a TRA permit, runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome, and money raised is donated to Centre Point Charity. Dogs are not allowed and age restrictions apply.
