Ferris 50 Endurance Run

The Ferris 50 Endurance Run sends runners across the foothills on the eastern side of Carson Valley over a blend of single-track trail, OHV trail and only a little concrete, with Job's Peak and the Carson Range filling the skyline. It starts at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville and finishes down the valley at TJ's Corral at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, where the Carson Valley Health Finish Line Festival runs from late morning into the afternoon. Four distances share the day, from a 1.5K kids' run up to a 50 mile ultra, and a free shuttle carries runners from the finish area to the start. The event honours George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr., the inventor of the Ferris Wheel who once lived in Carson Valley.
