The marathon is run entirely on road, on city streets closed to traffic in the centre of Florence, between historic squares and medieval lanes.
The route is on road through the city centre, so there is no technical difficulty. The distance itself is still demanding, so arrive with a realistic race plan and enough training behind you.
The banks of the Arno and the historic bridges give close-up views of the runners, as do the squares and lanes of the historic centre where the course passes by the city's art and architecture.
The event page offers an entry verification service, along with a field for entering a reserved code for those entitled to dedicated entry rates.
