Enigma Running stages a fireworks-themed marathon and half marathon weekend at Caldecotte Lake in Milton Keynes on a lapped lakeside circuit. The route follows lake paths and mixes hard gravel and concrete with a few yards of mud and grass, so it stays fast and runnable apart from short soft sections. Marathon entrants complete about seven and a half rotations of the loop and half marathon entrants about three and a half, with the marathon cut off at seven hours and the half at four. Race numbers are collected from Race HQ at the Caldecotte Arms, entrants must be at least 18, on-course nutrition is self-supplied as no gels or energy drinks are provided, and there is no secure baggage drop, so bags are left at the start and finish with no covered storage in the rain.
